Amego Knowledge Base: Your Ultimate Resource for Support and Guidance
Engagement: News Feed
Learn how to use the News Feed feature in Amego to share non-urgent updates with attendees and how it differs from Push Notifications.

News Feed (formerly Silent Push)

The News Feed in Amego is a powerful way to keep attendees informed throughout your event—without sending a push notification. This feature was previously known as Silent Push.

What Is the News Feed?

The News Feed is a dedicated in-app space where you can post updates, reminders, announcements, and key content. Unlike Push Notifications, News Feed posts do not send alerts to attendee devices—they quietly appear within the app.

Recommended Specs:

Title is 25-50 character limit.

Body Copy is 150 characters limit.

Image size 512x512px. Not recommended to include text on images.

📌 Use News Feed for updates that don’t require immediate attention, like daily recaps, sponsor spotlights, or session highlights.

Push Notifications vs. News Feed

CMS Display Options

In the Amego CMS, you now have two layout choices for how Push and News Feed items are displayed in the app:

  • Split View: Push Notifications and News Feed appear as separate sections.

  • Mixed View: Both are shown in a single, chronological list.

How to Add a News Feed Post

  • Go to Engagement > News Feed > Click on + New News Feed

  • Choose your Target - Amego allows you to send notifications to specific segments:
    • All: Sends to all users who’ve opted into notifications (delivers within 60 seconds).
    • Attendee Type or Tag:
      • Select one or more segments using attendee types or tags.
      • Tags can be managed under Settings > Attendees or within the Attendees section.
    • Session Attendees: Target users registered for a specific session.

  • Enter your Subject and Message.
  • Pick your Send Type
    • Send Now - Sends the message immediately to the app.
    • Schedule - Choose a future date and time for your post to publish. ⚠️ Once a post is scheduled, it cannot be edited. To make changes, you’ll need to delete and recreate it.
    • Draft - Save your post as a draft to edit later. You must still select a date and time, but the post will not go live until you choose Send Now or Schedule.

  • Select a CTA Type – In most cases, you’ll choose “None” as the Call to Action (CTA) type. If you’d like to include a URL or direct attendees to specific content within the app, select “Text.” Then, enter a CTA label (recommended maximum of 30 characters), and choose the appropriate CTA target type.

  • Click Submit notification.

That’s it—your post will now appear in the News Feed section of the app.

Importing Push Notifications

If you have many Push Notifications to add, importing them can save time.

  1. Go to Content > Import in the CMS.
  2. Open the Notifications tab in the import template.
  3. Fill out your message content in the spreadsheet.

Tip: We recommend leaving the date and time columns blank when importing.
This allows you to set the correct send time manually in the CMS and save each post as a draft for review.

Best Practices

  • Use consistent formatting for daily posts to make the feed easy to scan.
  • Include visuals when possible to boost engagement.
  • Avoid overloading the feed—keep it focused and relevant.
