Google Play Keystore Reset Process
If you need to reset your Google Play keystore (for example, if your original upload key has been lost or compromised), follow the steps below. This process involves generating a new upload key pair, providing Google with a new certificate, and submitting a key reset request through the Google Play Console.
Step-by-Step Process
Getting Started
- Log in to the Google Play Console: and select the app for which you've lost the key.
- Navigate to the App Signing page: by going to Test & Release > App integrity.
- Scroll down and find the section for Request upload key reset.
- Select the option for "I lost my upload key".
1. Generate a New Upload Key Pair
Once you've submitted the request for a reset, you'll need to generate the new upload key and export it.
- Create a new keystore and key pair in Android Studio or another tool.
2. Export the Public Key Certificate
What to do:
Export the public key certificate from the key pair. This will produce the key certificate string.
3. Provide the upload_certificate.pem File
What to do:
Obtain the .pem file associated with the new upload key certificate and share it with your Amego account manager or [email protected].
4. Submit the Key Reset Request to Google
What to do:
- Go to Google Play Console.
- Select Help (upper right corner).
- Choose Contact Us → Request Key Reset.
- Attach the
upload_certificate.pemfile.
Notes
- Steps 1–3 can be completed by either the client directly or by Amego on your behalf.
- Step 4 must be completed by the client, as Google requires the request to come from the account owner.
