Mapping Custom Fields

Mapping Custom Fields in Amego

Custom fields are powerful tools that allow you to tailor attendee tags, content filters, or categorization tags to better suit your event needs. When integrated with an Event Management System (EMS), these custom fields can provide more precise control over attendee engagement and content personalization.

Why Use Custom Fields?

Custom fields enhance the functionality of Amego by allowing you to:

  • Create Attendee Tags: Customize attendee profiles with specific tags, making it easier to sort and manage groups of attendees based on their interests or roles. Tags can be used to create custom Home screen experiences or segment push notifications for certain attendee groups.
  • Establish Content Filters: Filter content, such as sessions, by custom tags to ensure attendees see the most relevant information.
  • Organize with Tags: Use tags to categorize content and attendees for streamlined management and user experience.

Mapping Custom Fields via the Amego API

When you’re using an EMS, you can extend Amego's standard API with custom fields by mapping your EMS data to Amego fields. This requires identifying and linking the correct fields from your EMS to the corresponding fields in Amego.

How to Map Custom Fields

1.Identify the Source Field ID in your EMS: Locate the Source Field ID from your EMS. This is the unique identifier for the custom field you want to import into Amego. Fields are pulled from Swoogo Global > Customize Fields > Contact/ Registrant (or Sessions) > Fields and then you have to hover over the edit button to see the URL at the bottom and pull the numbers from ID

2.Create Attendee or Content Attribute Group: To map a custom Attendee or Content field, first you need to create an Attribute Group under Settings > Attendee (or Content) > Attributes. This will allow you to determine how you want to use this field in the app.

3.Navigate to Integrations: Begin by accessing the “Integrations” section in Amego.

4.Map the Custom Field to Amego: Once you have the Source Field ID, map this field to the relevant custom Attribute Group in Amego by selecting the corresponding options under “Integrations.” This process aligns the data, allowing it to transfer seamlessly from your EMS to Amego.

Note: Amego automatically pulls standard fields from the API, with the option to update these fields to custom ones as needed.

4.Save and Test the Integration: After mapping, save your configuration and test the integration to ensure your custom fields are displaying correctly within Amego.

By following these steps, your custom fields from the EMS will sync seamlessly with Amego, creating a more tailored experience for your event and attendees.
