Actions
How it Works
Sidekick generates contextual actions for various feed items by pulling from attendee profile data (title, company, interests they've selected) plus real-time signals (what they've registered for, where they've checked in, who they've already connected with) to generate each suggestion. The more signal Sidekick has, the sharper the suggestions get — these feed items tend to get more relevant as the event goes on, not less.
When adding an action, you will be prompted to select an Action Behavior, which will indicate what happens when an attendee interacts with the action. There are three possible Action Behaviors:
- Launch an AI Prompt: Sidekick responds with an AI-generated answer relevant to the feed item. You will create your prompt.
- Show a Feed Item: opens another feed item in the attendee's feed. You will choose a feed item from the event.
- Open a Screen or URL: sends the attendee to a specific destination. When you choose this, pick a CTA Target Type:
- URL: any external or web link.
- Screen: a screen within the app.
- Content: Session: a specific session's detail page.
- Content: Speaker: a specific speaker's profile.
- Content: Sponsor: a specific sponsor's profile.
- Content: Article: a specific article.
Sidekick will provide you with suggested actions, but you can also add your own custom actions.
Why it Matters
Sidekick's suggestion-based feed items all work the same way under the hood. Sidekick looks at what it knows about an attendee — background, interests, location, session activity — and surfaces the handful of people, sessions, or content that actually fit them, instead of the whole event dumped in their lap.
For Attendees: Nobody wants to scroll through 40 sessions to find the 3 that are relevant, or wander an expo floor hoping to run into the right person. A curated shortlist does that work for them. Sidekick meets them where they are — "You and Priya are both in fintech and both came from the security track — want an intro?" — instead of asking them to sort it out on their own.
For Organizers: Sidekick offers engagement you don't have to manually build. Every attendee gets a feed that feels built for them, without your team hand-picking recommendations for each person or attendee type. That's what turns "downloaded the app" into "opened it again on day two."
