Custom Feed Items: Feed Item Types

Custom Feed Item Types

There are three feed item types: Text Only, Text + Single Card, and Text + Card Carousel.

Text Only

 Text Only is a feed item that only has Sidekick text, no card. 

Once you have determined your Feed Item Name and selected Text Only as your Feed Item Type, you will enter the text Sidekick will say to attendees. Your text should be snappy and informative, such as “Come to puppy yoga time on the green at 2:30!”. This text will be displayed directly in the attendees’ Sidekick feed as a message from Sidekick. 

Once you have determined your text, you will determine the actions attached to your feed item. For more information on Actions, please consult Actions Article.

Next, choose your audience. For more information on Audience groups, please consult Audience Groups.

Finally, choose your timing for when you want this alert to enter the attendees’ feeds. You can set multiple schedules to act as reminders for certain times before events, for events that happen on multiple days, or … For more information on timing, please consult Scheduling.

Text + Single Card

Text + Single card is a feed item that has Sidekick text and one card.

Once you have determined your Feed Item Name and selected Text + Single Card as your Feed Item Type, you will enter the text Sidekick will say to attendees, just like in Text Only. Then, you will select a Card Template: Session, Speaker, Sponsor, or Custom. If Session, Speaker, or Sponsor is chosen, the card will have the default format seen in Recommended Feed Items, and you can choose which session, speaker, or sponsor you wish to feature. If Custom is chosen, you will create your own card instead of being provided a default card. Next, you will select a Card Content Display type: Primary, Text + Base, Image + Base, Text Only, or Image Only. For more information on each, follow the link to each individual article. 

Next, you will fill in the New Content section, which contains the following:

• Eyebrow: a small label above the headline.
• Headline: the card's main title.
• Supporting Text: additional detail below the headline.
• Image Source: can be provided by the session, speaker, or sponsor linked, or you can upload a custom image.
• Base Text: text anchored to the base of the card.
• Card Style:
• Card Image: upload an image for the card.

Your card can also have a Call to Action (CTA), which is a text button that will prompt users to go to another section of the app. Then, set the CTA Target Type, including:

• Content: Speaker allows you to target a specific speaker.
• Content: Sponsor allows you to target a specific sponsor.
• Content: Article allows you to target a specific article.
• Content: Session allows you to target a specific session.
• Screen allows you to target a specific screen, such as Home, Maps, or My Agenda.
• URL allows you to send users to a URL outside of the event app. 

For each card, you can choose a Card Style, which will provide the card with a specific appearance: Light, Dark, or Device.

The Background Color determines what color __________. Choose from a palette based on the colors set in Design.

Text + Card Carousel

Text + Card Carousel is a feed item that has Sidekick text and a scrollable set of cards.

Once you have determined your Feed Item Name and selected Text + Single Card as your Feed Item Type, you will enter the text Sidekick will say to attendees, just like in Text Only. Then, you will select a Card Template: Session, Speaker, Sponsor, or Custom. If Session, Speaker, or Sponsor is chosen, the card will have the default format seen in Recommended Feed Items. If Custom is chosen, you must select a Card Content Display type: Primary, Text + Base, Image + Base, Text Only, or Image Only. For more information on each, follow the link to each individual article. You will need to choose the same type of custom card for each card in the carousel.
